After visiting several pre-schools for my little boy as soon as I walked into Nelmes I knew he would be happiest here! My little boy started in Oct 17 & is now in his last year before big school. From the beginning all of the staff have been amazing with not just my son but also myself, easing both of our anxieties when he started to assessing his individual strengths & weaknesses, spending time with him individually on both to promote & improve where needed.
The staff are known as aunties to the children, the school really does have a family feel to it. You know the children’s early learning experience and happiness are the schools absolute priority which wasn’t the case with some I visited where they had a sort of box ticking corporate feel to them.I couldn’t praise all of the staff more, all of the children are always so happy as well as the parents. They have given my little boy the best start to his schooling and are now preparing him for his transition to reception something I am dreading purely because I don’t want him to leave Nelmes pre school! I will forever be grateful to all of the aunties for all of their hard work, care & time they have given my son. I couldn’t have wished for a better start for him!
Once again one of my children have to sadly say goodbye to Nelmes Pre School to move on, it’s always an emotional time! I have recommended this pre-school to others and I was not surprised in the least that their latest Ofsted inspection was graded Outstanding. They all work so hard but more than that they genuinely care about the children. Both of my daughter’s came along leaps and bounds there, not just educationally but socially too. Thanks to Cheryl and all the aunties for your hard work, we will all miss you and wish the very best for the future. x
Brilliant pre school
Billie-Leigh has had an amazing 2 years at Nelmes she started of very shy but the lovely Aunties helped bring her out her shell she enjoyed everyday here. She has learnt so much here and will be joning reception knowing how to spell her name all her sounds and ner numbers the Aunties put in so much hard work with all the children and my youngest is very excited to start Nelmes in September. I would highly recommend this pre school. Thank you for all your hard work
My son has loved attending Nelmes. He has built excellent relationships with both children and staff. Joshua has not only been taught how to count and hold a pencil but has had some fantastic experiences, he loved the hatching of chicks at Easter. The Easter and Christmas concerts have been lovely moments for both children and parents.
As a parent I am constantly reassured that this pre school has given Joshua the best possible start to his education. The staff provide regular updates to his progression. In addition Joshua has issues with his speech, the staff have been supportive of his needs and have happily assisted with his speech development.Joshua has loved attending, everyday he comes home smiling and filthy dirty, for me as a parent I take this as a sign that he has had a great time!
Fantastic
This is an excellent preschool my daughter absolutely loves going and it has done her wonders. She has learnt so much and has made lots of little friends. All staff are very friendly and personal. They know so much about all the kids and keep you updated regularly. Recent Nativity was fantastic and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
I would not hesitate recommending this setting and would like to thank all the staff for all they do for my daughter.
Excellent Pre-school
I write this feeling quite emotional, as I reminisce about how far my son, Arjan, has come in his development whilst at Nelmes Pre-School. He started as a quiet timid toddler and has ended up leaving in July 2017 as a confident, independent thinking, sarcastic young boy.
He regularly still speaks fondly of the Aunties, saying things like they are “cute” and he “misses them”, he’s not alone in the latter, I found them to be extremely comforting towards me in my transition of having Arjan at home with me full time to attending nursery. During the year he also on most nights needed to see their faces, so Id have to open up the website on my phone and let him see them, only then could he sleep. This to me is a massive indicator of how loving and comforting they are to the children.
A special thank you to Aunty Michelle, whom without her, Arjan would probably still be wearing nappies! She gave me the confidence to toilet train Arjan and trust my instincts with him, she showed me that as parents, we have the answers already and don’t need to ‘google’ everything.
All the Aunties, spend equal time with the children and assist them in all areas of EYFS. Arjan had learnt all of his phonics, counting, as well as pencil grip/writing to name but a few areas. He is definitely ready for school next week. This is all that you ever want from a nursery, to prepare your child for the next stage in his/her life. However, I feel the aunties take it one step further, the creative ways the Aunties introduce academic subjects to the children mean that they learn better and will retain what they learn.
Nelmes also does not stand for bullying or any of the children being unhappy, Arjan was being hit by one of the children. The same day I raised it with the Aunties, I was told by Arjan that he and the boy are now friends and he doesn’t hit him anymore. This was comforting to me, because it showed that they want a safe happy environment for every child, and were extremely concerned that Arjan was feeling dejected.
Throughout the year, parents are invited to join in with watching their children, during events such as Nativity, Easter Concert, Sports Day and Graduation ceremony. All of the Aunties work so hard with the children to ensure that the parents have these memories of their little ones firsts. I’ll never forget my Arjan playing King Herod in the Nativity.
I’m now looking forward to sending my second child to Nelmes in a couple of years time. I would not trust anybody else with my children, the way I trust the Cheryl and her team; thank you all for looking after Arjan.

We feel proud and privileged that our son had an opportunity to attend your wealthy school.
We are lucky residents of this country where so many happy events are organised in a calendar year by several organisations and communities. Despite people have different religions and faiths of their own, it is really a great pleasure to observe that we all celebrate each one like our own. The Nelmes pre-school under your care and consideration is no exception and we are ever so delighted to witness the way pupils enjoyed the Easter Concert.
It is rather a selfish observation to quote, nonetheless we witness our child’s participation in the play and are so pleased to express our happiness towards the teachers’ contributions and kind efforts in achieving such extraordinary results. Needless to say, it was not possible for pupils at this early age to accomplish the way they did without kindness and dedicated efforts of the teachers. Although it was pupils’ show, the teachers qualify for full credit for everything the pupils had finished. Moreover, it was rather unique point to notice that each child had an opportunity to perform equally and everyone so had equal share of enjoyments and happiness. This kind of personal attention at this early age to pupils would stay in their mind like a tattoo, we believe. Our personal honest opinion is that we find it is so difficult and challenging to train our own child during the day; we do not understand how the school could manage to train so may pupils during a short period and particularly within limitations of time and mood of pupils. We therefore would like to convey our sincere thanks and appreciation for everything the school has been doing for pupils.
We would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the way pupils are welcomed at the school every day and they are being treated ever so humanly. They are small kids and they have different way of expressing their feelings and aptitude, nevertheless particularly our son talks about teachers at home is rather a reflexion of good time he is having at the school.
We would like to stop on a pleasant note that we feel proud and privileged that our son, Adityaraj had an opportunity to attend your wealthy school.

Great Pre-School
Our daughter, Isabel, looks forward to her sessions at Nelmes and always enjoys her days in the pre-school. The fact that she enjoys the school environment is so important to us, but the staff have also paid attention to her literacy and writing skills. We are so pleased that she has developed these attributes too and feel she will be more than ready for infant school as a result. Lastly, there is a strong sense of fun at Nelmes and the Christmas and Easter shows and Sports Days have been fantastic too. Great work Nelmes. Thank you for your efforts with our daughter and all the other children in your care.
